History of Catruane Weimaraners

We were first introduced to weimaraners back in 1984 with Independent Will (Spook); he sadly died at the age of 4 from cancer. My parents were then introduced to Mick & Jacqui Ward and purchased a weimaraner puppy Mianja Mystic Crystal (Casper) their first show dog. He was "Our Dogs" Weimaraner Top Puppy 1991 & won 1 Challenge Certificate. He gave us much pleasure & enjoyed much success in the show ring.

In 1991 we purchased a weimaraner puppy from Stephen & Patsy Hollings Gunalt Hedonist (Grady - Picture above). Grady has been campaigned to many notable successes in the show ring, he was runner up at The Pedigree Chum Veteran Stakes Final in 1998 & Sh Ch Gunalt Hedonist was also Weimaraner Club of Great Britain Top Sire 1997. He has also been an extremely useful asset to many breeding lines and is producing top quality winning champion progeny both at home & abroad including Sh Ch Kalimor Cooper JW, Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch Anchellach Adagio, Sh Ch Kalimor Cassis of Cavalmist, Sh Ch Leyanna Riff-Raff, Sh Ch Risinglark Hyperion JW and Sh Ch Gunalt Edition of Wilshier (Barbados). His progeny Sh Ch Risinglark Hyperion, Jehane Jasmine, Jehane Jenson, Catruane Caol Ila, Gunsyn Nike, Klugmaus Keswick, Ryanstock Hallmark JW and Sh Ch Leyenna Riff-Raff can be seen in the ring today frequently winning top honours at Championship shows. Riff-Raff now resides and is campaigned in the USA.

The Catruane affix was first registered in 1994 under the mother & daughter partnership of Anne & Ruth Longbottom. Sh Ch Gunalt Remy of Catruane was our next addition, she enjoyed much success in the show ring, after gaining her title she retired from the show ring in 1997, her first litter to Gunalt Hedonist produced Catruane Caol Ila, Catruane Caperdonich & Catruane Edradour of which all have had much success in the show ring. Catruane Caol Ila was Best Puppy in Breed at Crufts 1996, 1st Mid Limit at Crufts 1997, Major Green Star and Best in Show at the Weimaraner Club of Ireland 1999 and Best Veteran in Show at the NEWS Champ Show 2004. Synnful Encounter of Catruane, a Hedonist daughter mated to Gunalt Ralph Lauren produced Sh Ch Catruane Rafferty. Rafferty has now returned to the UK having made a very successful debut in Europe culminating in the FCI World Champion Weimaraner 2002.

Catruane Edradour mated to Sh Ch Catruane Rafferty produced Sh Ch Catruane Magee. Magee is following in his father's footsteps with 4 Challenge Certificates and 3 Reserve Challenge Certificates to date. Gunalt Tease of Catruane mated to Catruane Rafferty produced Catruane Gypsy Cream stud book qualified and successfully placed at championship shows.
